The Hydrogen Energy Association (HEA) has launched what it says is the UK’s first free-to-access Hydrogen Projects Map.
The map features more than 70 low carbon hydrogen projects in operation, or at least moving quickly towards final investment decisions, ranging from production to infrastructure, mobility use to commercial and industrial use, as well as hydrogen for domestic heating.
It is a live map, meaning projects are being added all the while. If companies wish to have their projects featured, then the HEA says they need to be post-FEED as well as, or instead be shortlisted for public funding.
Projects featured include the “pioneering” first wave of large-scale electrolytic hydrogen projects, due to be in operation from 2025, including the 400MW Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub, 300MW Cromarty Hydrogen Hub, 250MW Hybont and 200MW Lowestoft hydrogen production facility.
It also highlighted Protium’s industrial use project which has seen it partner with Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I, showing how hydrogen can decarbonise a hard-to-abate sector; Project Union, which will see various projects connect hydrogen production, storage and demand, enabling net zero and empowering a UK hydrogen economy; and hydrogen mobility projects, including fleetwide conversion for Aberdeen City Council and the Teesside Transport Hub.
