First Hydrogen has linked up with Wales & West Utilities (WWU) to kick off hydrogen vehicle trials.
Operating out of WWU’s Swansea depot, First Hydrogen’s hydrogen fuel-cell powered vehicle (FCEV) will support network engineers in making customer call outs and carry out repair and maintenance work. Through the trial, First Hydrogen’s FCEV is expected to show its substantial range of 400 miles, payload towing and fast refuelling capabilities.
Protium Green Solutions and Hyppo Hydrogen Solutions are also supporting the demonstration, helping to develop a hydrogen ecosystem to support WWU’s operations. This will ensure WWU can refuel close to its depot in Swansea, without having to travel to a public charging station.
Steve Gill, CEO of Automotive at First Hydrogen, said: “This trial will help us to learn a lot about moveable and depot-based refuelling solutions and how this technology could help bridge gaps in the UK’s refuelling infrastructure network. Ultimately, our role in developing a hydrogen ecosystem with partners will strengthen our service offering to fleets and accelerate hydrogen mobility adoption.”
