GeoPura and Siemens Energy have joined forces to launch a first-of-a-kind hydrogen apprenticeship scheme up in Newcastle.
A total of 16 apprentices have been recruited – 4 by GeoPura, 12 by Siemens Energy – and will now begin working towards a Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering by helping to advance the manufacture of hydrogen power generation technology. The goal of the scheme is to overcome one of the key challenges facing the energy transition and, especially, the hydrogen industry: the shortage of skilled personnel.
Embarking on a comprehensive program of study at the TDR Training Centre in Newcastle, the apprentices will benefit from hands-on training at Siemens Energy in Newcastle, as well as with GeoPura engineers on-site at locations across the UK.
