EET Hydrogen is proceeding into final negotiations with the government to develop a low carbon hydrogen plant in Ellesmere, with a final decision expected later in the year.
It announced that it now has a statement of principles with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero for its HPP1 low carbon hydrogen plant, which is set to commence construction later into 2024. The project will have an initial production capacity of 350MW and capture around 600,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
As part of the HyNet cluster, the project will produce hydrogen for industrial businesses across the North West of England, helping them to decarbonise their operations, protect jobs and drive economic growth. Tony Fountain, Managing Partner of EET, commented that scaling hydrogen capacity is set to be “essential to decarbonising heavy industries”.
