SSE and EET Hydrogen have kicked off development work on a new green hydrogen production facility in the North West of England.
Gowy Green Hydrogen will be based at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex and have an initial capacity of 40MWe. It will deliver hydrogen to industrial offtakers in the region, supporting them to decarbonise their operations and both secure and grow jobs throughout the area.
Feasibility studies are already complete, with design and site investigation works now underway. The facility could be operational as soon as 2028 should all go to plan, with a planning application to be submitted in 2025 ahead of any final investment decision then being made by SSE and EET.
