New office in Harwich for Rux Energy

Rux Energy has opened a new UK engineering office in Harwich, marking a key milestone as it embarks on a mission to advance sustainable energy solutions and support the global transition to a hydrogen economy.

The new base in Harwich will serve as a hub for the Australian-based hydrogen storage innovator’s operations in the UK and across Europe, paving the way for closer collaboration with key partners and stakeholders, as well as helping deliver two innovation programmes funded by Innovate UK for which Rux is a consortium member. The office is set to play a critical role too in helping develop and deploy Rux’s revolutionary nanoporous materials which have been designed to enable efficient, safe and low cost hydrogen storage.

Founder and CEO of Rux Energy, Dr Jehan Kanga, said the new location in Harwich is perfectly aligned with the innovator’s strategic goals and commitment to sustainability. Kanga continued: “This new office will allow us to better serve our customers and partners, and help accelerate the adoption of hydrogen as a clean energy source.”

David Camerlengo, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner at Austrade, which has been supporting Rux Energy in pursuing international goals, expressed delight at that ongoing development now manifesting itself into a physical presence in the UK. Camerlengo added: “Their storage solution is eye-catching for the Hydrogen sector and, as a torchbearer for other Australian Hydrogen innovators, we look forward to supporting their continued growth here in UK.”

Sat at the centre of Freeport East – which signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rux earlier this year – the new office also means that it will be able to contribute to local economic growth and job creation, along with advancing the development of green hydrogen technologies – with a green hydrogen hub of course at the heart of Freeport East.

Freeport East Chief Executive, Steve Beel, said: “Freeport East is rapidly establishing itself as a go-to location for those innovating in green hydrogen and we are confident that with Rux opening their new office in Harwich, it will further help us to build a cluster of progressive clean energy and maritime businesses in the local area.”
