Blackburn College has announced it is among the first institutions in the UK to pilot the Level 2 Hydrogen Qualification.
Visited by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) – the awarding body for the qualification – the college were able to have their delivery of the course assessed, as well as the safety measures, including environmental sensors and a ventilation system, evaluated. Blackburn College is the first college in the UK to actually pilot the qualification, with its students set to get a head start now in hydrogen-focused training.
Michael Yerbury, Hydrogen Technical Trainer, said: “This is fantastic news as it keeps our curriculum ahead of industry trends, giving students hands-on experience with the latest advancements in Hydrogen and Electric Vehicle Technology. Big names like BMW and Hyundai are working on hydrogen innovations, and with new releases expected in the next year or two, it’s really important for our students to be comfortable with clean energy systems.”
