Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has announced a £100 million investment in Aegis Energy to help lead the deployment of clean, multi-energy refuelling hubs for commercial vehicles in the UK, which will cater for hydrogen
Aegis is targeting a network of hubs able to meet the needs of all truck and van operators that are making the switch to cleaner fuels, spanning electric, HVO and bio-CNG, as well as hydrogen. Aegis is eyeing an initial five-station network which it wants complete by the end of 2027, with stations planned for Sheffield, Immingham, Warrington, Corby and Towcester, with a broader network spanning 30 hubs targeted for the end of the decade.
Once operational, each hub will have the capacity to charge or fuel approximately more than 40 heavy goods vehicles and over 25 vans simultaneously. An average site would be expected to reduce carbon equivalent emissions by around 14,300 tonnes per year.

The transition will take time and play out differently for each fleet, but by providing public hubs with multiple clean energy charging and refuelling options, we’re supporting operators to choose how they want to make the transition.”
