Kent has secured a contract with ENKA UK Construction for the detailed engineering of the UK’s first large-scale low carbon hydrogen project in Cheshire.
This is for the low carbon hydrogen production plant (HPP1) at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port which is being developed by Essar Energy Transition Hydrogen. With a production capacity of 350MW, HPP1 is expected to be able to capture 600,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, the same as removing around 250,000 cars from the road.
Usman Darr, Managing Director of Kent, said: “This is such an important project in the UK’s transition to low carbon fuels, reducing emissions from heavy industrial users. Kent has been a long-term partner in the development of the HyNet cluster, having delivered concept, pre-FEED, and FEED stages of HPP1.”
