The government has announced development consent has been granted for the Immingham Green Energy Terminal.
The green light has been given by the Secretary of State for Transport, with the project set to include a new liquid bulk import terminal and associated processing facility. The aim behind this is to deliver a 300MW green hydrogen production facility, with imported ammonia stored and processed at the site, paving the way for the creation of green hydrogen. This will then be used for onward transport to filling stations around the UK.
The project’s infrastructure is set to include a new approach trestle, jetty superstructure and topside infrastructure, and land side processing infrastructure. It is being developed by Associated British Ports and Air Products and could create 1,400 jobs and £4.6 billion in economic value in the Humber estuary.
