Boomtown, set for 6-10 August in Hampshire, is set to feature a new stage – the HYDRO stage – that is powered entirely by hydrogen fuel cells this year.
Over 65,000 attendees are expected at the event, with Boomtown teaming up with Hydrologiq to deliver the stage. Hydrologiq will manage the installation, remote monitoring of fuel levels and organisation of compliant operations on the ground, using its HydrologiqOS platform to make it happen.
Luke Mitchell, co-founder of the festival and also its Creative Director, said: “It’s been a real challenge to make this work, but unless we take these big leaps and think creatively, we won’t see the shift that’s so urgently needed. My hope is that this sparks momentum in the right direction – paving the way for temporary events to move towards a truly Net Zero future.”
