Associated British Ports (ABP), HiiROC and px Group have unveiled a strategic collaboration agreement that will see them develop a new hydrogen production plant at Saltend Chemicals Park.
The plant is expected to produce an initial 10 tonnes of low carbon hydrogen each day, with scope for this to grow in future. It will make use of HiiROC’s proprietary process of Thermal Plasma Electrolysis to produce low carobn hydrogen, while ABP (ABP) has carbon export potential and is a significant landowner in the area, with px Group adding significant project development and engineering expertise.
HiiROC is already exploring potential support for the project with local and central government, as well as private sources of capital.
Commenting on the link-up, Max Harris, Head of Strategy and Sustainability at ABP, said: “This project demonstrates the potential of true cross-industry collaboration. Together, we can address complex challenges no single entity could tackle alone.”
